  1. Impacted – An impacted tooth is a tooth that has not completely emerged out of the bone and gums of the jaw.  Portions of a tooth that you can visibly see are called partial impactions.  Sometimes the wisdom teeth are complete impactions.  This type you will not be capable of seeing in the mirror, because they are completely below the gums.
  2. Erupted – An erupted tooth is one that has emerged completely from the gums and usually functions off the opposing tooth.
  3. Preventive Dentistry – Our goal in educating patients on how to take care of their teeth to prevent cavities and disease.  Information of flossing and fluoride can prevent cavities or disease from starting.
  4. Caries – Dental decay or commonly referred to by public or laymen as “cavities.”  The decay created holes in teeth and can contaminate the nerves inside the teeth resulting in root canals or loss of teeth.
  5. Periodontal disease – A “silent” disease in which patients will never experience pain.  A bacteria infection which is incurable and transmissible (capable of spreading to other teeth).  The disease if untreated, will result in loss of teeth.  Recent studies indicate a link between periodontal disease and an increased incidence of heart disease, strokes, pre-term low-birth-weight babies.  The link is C reactive protein and is found in chronic inflammatory areas such as periodontally diseased areas.
